It will always be necessary for some people to work alone without any direct supervision. Employers have the responsibility of conducting a risk assessment on the risks of lone workers, but employees also have a responsibility to take reasonable care of themselves and others who may be affected by their work.
This lone working health and safety course will help you identify your legal obligations and to identify control measures that minimise risks.

1 Day Course
Aims
To develop effective working practices and personal skills in dealing with difficult and potentially violent situations when working in or away from the workplace.
Outcomes
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Recognise potentially difficult situations
- Develop skills in defusing difficult situations using “LEAPS”
- Respond Assertively
- Have a knowledge of company’s Lone Working Procedures
- Have a knowledge of Danger Code Wording
- Top Tips in Personal Safety
- Develop personal safety / lone working measures
- Know what to do in an emergency situation / breakaway

Break Away
We all know that avoidance is the key to great personal safety. But we do not always remember what we have been taught and sometime we can end up in a situation that has got out of hand. That is when we need to have the knowledge of Break Away. Using the very basics of a martial art called Ju-Jitsu this short course highlights how easy it is to escape out of a situation without the use of force – no injury to your assailent or to yourself. A fantasic insight into mind over matter taught by former world medallist Tara Dean 3rd Dan Black Belt. Delegates do not have to be ultrafit to go on this course it is designed with the client in mind.
2 Hour Break Away
Aims
By the end of each training session, participants should be able to:
- Dealing with wrist, arm grabs
- Arm locks / clothes grabs / Hair grabs.
- Strangles
- How to deal with attacks whilst in a car etc.
- Mobile Phone Safety
- Positive Mental Attitude/Body Language
Objectives
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- How to deal with & breakaway from various attacking moves.
- Know the correct & safest way by using the minimum amount of force to breakaway from various strangle holds/hair grabs/wrist & arm grabs.
- Realise that breakaway & self-defence techniques are only used when all other options have failed.
- Learn the correct & safest way to defend one-self seated behind a desk or in a car
- Learn how to assess, & use your environment, thus working out the quickest possible escape route, to minimising confrontation.
- Remember to use the minimum amount of force, thus minimising any possible injury to yourself, & the assailant.
